How an M16 A1 works
The M16 rifle, officially designated Rifle, Caliber 5.56 mm, M16, is a United States military adaptation of the ArmaLite AR-15 rifle. The original M16 was a selective fire 5.56mm rifle with a 20-round magazine.
The U.S. Army XM16E1 was essentially the same weapon as the M16 with the addition of a forward assist and corresponding notches in the bolt carrier. The M16A1 was the finalized production model in 1967.

On one hand this is just a clip from the game World of Guns: Gun Disassembly, but honestly, when I needed to replace my Tokarevs barrel, this video was really handy because its just simple and straight to the point showing how the parts come apart and go back together, no 15 minutes of some guy talking on and on about stuff before finally getting to the assembly and disassembly, and when they do the disassembly, they are Still yapping along. Also there are just simple books and pictures that show how to take apart guns and put them back together, but honestly a video will show details of how things turn and move a lot better than pictures ever will, so you get my upvote, youtuber.
Is that cylinder spinning the wrong way ????
